1Up! Gaming Group

Enrol in the 1Up! Gaming Group to Level up and Replenish your Life Sauce

We are now taking enrolments for the 2017 1Up! gaming groups running Mondays throughout the school year. We also accept new players anytime.

Join us for pizza, gaming, and making friends with similar interests every Monday during school term. We run two age groups, 8-11 year olds from 4:30-6:30pm, and 12-16 year olds from 6:00-8:00pm. Pizza and refreshments are consumed between 6:00-6:30pm for both groups.

The group is run by psychologist Holly and youth worker Sheyan, who are long time gamers that know how to use the digital world for good. We focus on supporting young people to make connections to others and use games wisely, through group psychological strategies, parent coaching, and child mentoring using games as an engagement tool. The group may suit children who have been resistant or unsuited to traditional 1:1 therapeutic relationships. To see if your child is suited to the group, come to a session for free! Groups are limited to 10 children, and other evenings will open up as groups are filled.

Sessions proceed as follows:

Group 1 (8-11 year olds)

4:30pm
Participants meet in the gaming lounge with Sheyan
Parents can meet with Holly until 5pm to obtain information and support relating to games and gaming behaviour

5:00-6:30pm
Parents can relax in our waiting area and family room, or are welcomed to pick their child up at 6:30pm
Holly and Sheyan mentor participants to make social connections and establish a positive gamer culture through peer support, team work in game, and facilitated discussions about being a gamer.

Both Groups

6:00-6:30pm

Dinner & refreshments

Group 2 (12-16 year olds)

6:00
Participants meet in the gaming lounge with Sheyan
Parents can see Holly until 6:30pm for information and support relating to games and gaming behaviour

Participants are given opportunities to share their thoughts and feelings as they become comfortable in the setting and with the group. We encourage participants to forge friendships with group members outside of the group.
Parents are welcome to relax in our waiting area and family room, or can come back at 8pm to pick up their child
